Patience

Guns and Roses sing a song about it, true. But why is patience such a hard concept to not only understand but have in our lives? Why do we have to wait for the righteous desires of our hearts? Why do we suffer and endure?

Patience. Why is it so hard to have? In our one-click to satisfaction society, we feel patience is a bygone quality. Everything is on-demand. We can't even sit at a stoplight for a few moments without checking our phones.

Sometimes, we might apply this concept to blessings. While we don't point and click when we talk to God, do we expect a drop down menu with the option to download blessings now?

I recently found this scripture in Hebrews 6:15: "And so, after he patiently endured, he obtained the promise." What does this mean? Without patience, do we have faith? Without endurance, do we have hope? What means more to us- an easy victory or one one earned by harried effort and passion?

The easy way out would be to give up- to stop dreaming, to stop trying, to throw up our hands and walk away. But, to do so would be short-sighted. Our lives are so short when compared to the eons of eternity. We have to be faithful and Trust God.
